BLUEBELL

Scientific name: Hyacinthoides non-scripta (L.) Rothm.

Common name: bluebell, wild hyacinth, wood bell, fairy flower, bell bottle

Family: ASPARAGACEAE

When springtime approaches, people are looking forward to the time when the meadows in the woodland would be carpeted with the purple colour of little bluebell. Bluebell is native to western Europe. Almost half of the population are found in the UK.

Time for bluebell blooming is late April or early May. In the natural setting or garden, flowering bluebell on the woodland carpet is a memorable scenery.
